It's Giveaway Tuesday, and this week's challenge is inspired by a few recent articles from Michelle Geoga in the Lights! Camera! Photoshop! World, on the topic of "unfocusing" your photographs for dreamy, evocative and somewhat abstract takes on life. Check out some of the in-camera (no Photoshop) effects she gives in her two articles (here and here) for blurring images using any camera you have.
For this challenge, we've partnered with MacPhun to bring you their popular FX Photo Studio family of image processing applications for Mac and iOS devices. They're perfect for playing around with your new blurry photographs! In this app bundle (a value of $44.97), you'll get the following 3 programs:
FX Photo Studio takes all of the exhausting work out of adding effects to your pictures in programs like Photoshop. Each of the three apps contain over 150 magnificent photography effects, which both amateurs and professionals can take advantage of with just a few clicks. The lightning fast previews make it easy to get the look you want, and you can combine and layer any of the filters without problems. Plus you can share them easily on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Tumblr. You can even generate codes for customized presets as well as access thousands of codes provided by others around the world.
The Mac version is capable of handling almost every major file format (including RAW), supports up to 32 megapixels in resolution, and provides basic photo editing tools for sharpening images, adding shadows and adjusting colors. The mobile versions are great for image processing on the go!
The subject of your photo can be anything (except obvious things, like nudity). You can use any camera of your choosing, but there is one requirement—NO post-editing or filtering in programs like Photoshop or FX Photo Studio. Only use the techniques seen here and here, or get creative with other non-computer methods of blurring your photos. Michelle will help select the winner of this contest.
All entries must be in by Monday, July 4th, 11:59pm PST. Standard rules apply.
Feel free to post any questions below, or ask for help in the Lights! Camera! Photoshop! forum if you need some more advice on the process. Here's some more examples of what we're looking for...
