Cloud Photography Challenge: Journey to the Center of the Earth
I took this photo in Iceland at Snæfellsjökull, a 700,000 year old stratovolcano with a glacier covering its summit. The famous spot provides the setting for Jules Vernes' fictional A Journey to the Center of the Earth, in which the characters find a passage leading to the center of the earth. Standing up there was truly surreal—the strong winds whipped the snow, clouds and land all together into one incredible landscape.
Cloud Photography Challenge: Battle in the Sky
im just an amateur photographer using a nikon camera at night on my way home from the beach, i hope this is good enough....too much noise, i had little light that time and the flash would make it look ugly
Cloud Photography Challenge: Crepuscular Rays
My backyard. I get beautiful sunrises every morning. This is "Hdr'ed" from 5 exposures. I've tried to make the resulting image look painterly without too much "over" processing...but I understand these images can be controversial. I hate 3 quarters of them at least!
Cloud Photography Challenge: Sunset at Haleakala (Maui)
Small version of a 80 megapixel stitched panorama. Near sunset (the sun is above the clouds illuminating them) at the 10,000 foot elevation summit of Haleakala. If you think this is a pretty scene...you should spend a few minutes and watch the 1080P partial time lapse video I took here of the sunset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBsR5Ogeiq8
Cloud Photography Challenge: Palette Knife Storm
I'm not usually one for artsy filters in Photoshop, but this contest made me want to play around with the palette knife filter. Took the pic a while ago with a point and shoot.
Cloud Photography Challenge: Rolling Clouds of Lightning
Exposure 3.2 | Aperture f/5.6 | Focal Length 70 mm | ISO Speed 200
Cloud Photography Challenge: Magic All Around
Taken with a compact with a tiny sensor. All that is the photo was present at that magic instant. Nothing was added at a later stage. Every year there is a cloud magic day in Costa Caparica. If Asterix and fellow village inhabitants had seen what Lisbon local saw above them that day, they wouldn't fear a falling sky but instead would contemplate in awe, totally amazing. Post processed in photoshop for tonal effect and increased sharpness.

Bird's Eye View Challenge: Aerial Panorama of Arizona (I think) from a 737
Small version of a 3 image stiched panorama out the window of a 737 at 35,000 feet and 500 mph. :) These are fun pictures to take if you have good weather and the window isn't too scratched up.
Bird's Eye View Challenge: Lakeside View in Guatemala
Taken in September. Had just finished kayaking Lake Atitlan and came across this hammock while exploring the hotel grounds. Craziest part is this place was $34 a night.
News: Thank you very much!! :))
Thank you very much for the cute deer animags!! I had a lot of fun (as you can see LOL)!

Birds Eye View Challenge: Happy Dog
Took this picture with a Canon Rebel XS from the top of a 30 foot tree- not sure why but it looks like I'm 10 feet up... The scary part is that the wind MPH was 50+, and this wasn't a strong tree. Every few seconds I would be half crushed by this "puny" tree (it was still bigger than me!). She (the dog) kept on trying to hop up in the tree!
Bird's Eye View Challenge: Psychadelic Folkloric Reindeer in Berlin
I took this photo standing on some bleachers at Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof Museum for Contemporary Art. Artist Carsten Höller’s “SOMA” installation consisted of live reindeer milling around, canaries in cages, and mice in mazes. It was trippy (the concept for the piece does include hallucinogenic reindeer urine), over-conceptualized, and super fun. The craziest thing was an elevated bed at the end of the walkway, in which patrons of the museum could spend the night (upon winning a raffle tick...
Bird's Eye View Challenge: Celebrity... Maybe
We were at the El Capitan on Sunday and while waiting for friends to show up we walked over to the massive Cirque du soleil Hollywood premiere for a few minutes. Around the time we were there celebrities were arriving so we just started taking pictures. I don't know a lot of celebrity names, some I only recognized by face (oh it's that dude from Swingers!), but this is the best shot I took above the crowd.
Bird's Eye View Challenge: Countryside Ballooning
I can't win the prize (though I wish I could), so I decided to show off more than just one photo from a recent hot air balloon ride I took. If you're going to submit to the contest, make sure to only submit one photo, to make it fair.
Bird's Eye View Challenge: Blackfriars Bridge, High Above London
Blackfriars Bridge, Facing north-east from the top of Kings Reach Tower, London. Taken on an urban exploration.
News: Thanks for the Glif
The Glif is an amazing yet simple product. It has multiple uses and doesn't take up a ton of space when not in use. The only downside is that it must be used with a naked iphone and it only works for the iPhone 4 for now.

News: Monochromatic but tasty!
Not my prettiest food photo...but tonight's dinner was great enough that I had to post it up anyways! Malbec and Brown Ale braised shortribs glazed with a reduction of the same braise. Simple butter sauteed carrots and mushrooms.
Food Photography Contest: New Zealand Style 'Pavlova'
This pavlova tastes every bit as good as it looks. I did not need to use any of the mentioned cheats.
Food Photography Challenge: Ocean Bacon
Sashimi at a recent visit to Izaka-Ya, near the Manhattan Beach pier.

Chocolate Spice Icebox cookies spilling out of antique mason-style jars with metal lids.
Food Photography Challenge: Cereal!
I don't know why, but I love cereal. I have like four bowls a day!
Food Photography Contest: Raw Raspberry Ganache Fudge Cake
I'm not a big raw food guy, but me and my girlfriend whipped this raw food cake up from Ani Phyo's recipe. It had walnuts, cacao powder, sea salt, Medjool dates, agave syrup, avocado, and most importantly... raspberries. We didn't follow the directions all the way, but what we came up with was delicious, and like I said, I'm not big into raw food gourmet. I'm not big into cacao either, but it was a nice change from your normal chocolate dessert. It wanted to fall apart, but surprisingly, it m...
Food Photography Challenge: Homemade Arabic Stew
My husband is Arab, and this dish is one of his Mom's most popular dishes. She stuffed cucumbers with rice and ground meat, and we finished it by simmering it in tomato sauce on the stove top for an hour and a half. That was soooo delicious.
